Las Olas Slide

phil fung The 26th Annual Las Olas Art Fair is happening this Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19-20,  and we at Howard Alan Events could not be more thrilled to be returning to one of our favorite South Florida spots for what is sure to be a weekend of family, creativity and fun. What’s more, as our Breast Cancer Awareness Month focus continues, many of our wonderful artists have created one-of-a-kind, lovely pieces that they will be selling, with a portion of the sales donated to breast cancer research.

Las Olas Boulevard, with its vibrant streets and awesome visitors, has been the perfect venue for the Las Olas Art Fair, and this year is no exception. Over 150 artists will set up their booths along Las Olas Boulevard, transforming the already beautiful area into a wonderful outdoor, juried art exhibit. With every medium represented and everything from painters to sculptors attending this year’s celebration of creativity and talent, the Las Olas Art Fair will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of the fall art show season.

David Edmund Las Olas

Featured Artist: David Edmund

One incredible representation of the spirit of the Las Olas Art Fair is the gorgeous textures and lively, colorful strokes in the work of Brazilian-born South Florida artist David Edmund. A graceful artist focused on works including abstract landscapes as well as figuratives, David’s love of painting began as a young man growing up among the lush and vibrant culture of Rio de Janeiro.

With so much beauty surrounding him, and with the guidance of a host of private tutors over the years combined with an education at the prestigious Center for Visual Arts of Rio de Janeiro, he has been heavily influenced in his color palette and style by the ambiance of his native Brazil. Primarily creating his textured signature look on canvas and paper out of water-based colors, David has successfully sold his pieces all over the world, with collectors everywhere from The Netherlands to New York. He splits his time successfully between the coastal village of Buzios near Rio, and his home and studio in Tampa, Florida.

This weekend’s featured artist, our friend David Edmund, brings his lively and beautiful art to Las Olas and, in the tradition of Howard Alan Events featured artists, patrons will have the opportunity to take home one of his works as part of the Featured Artist Giveaway. Visit his booth to see David’s brand new giveaway piece and enter to win a magnificent and colorful piece from an amazing artist – you’ll have until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20 to enter!
