How do you make the perfect custom golf putter? Only someone like celebrated artist and inventor of the Precision Putter, David Fernandez, would know. In our first of a four-day blog series, we’re sharing with you how our Featured Artist for the Art Fest by the Sea in Jupiter/Juno Beach creates his one-of-a-kind custom golf putters from clay.
As an avid golfer and an artist of 40 years, David Fernandez owns and has been running Seagrove Stoneware Inn and Pottery in Seagrove, N.C. along with his wife Alexa. His love of golfing combined with his passion for pottery and clay creations inspired him to create a unique, functional piece of art that would add something special to a golfer’s bag: the Precision Putter. With a Bachelor’s degree in Art and Mathematics, David’s insight into functional beauty makes him the ideal creator for such a handsome artistic project.
So, here, at Howard Alan Events, we thought we’d do something a little different: We want to show you, step by step, how David Fernandez turns chunks of clay into Precision Putters, magnificent golf putters like the one we’re giving away this weekend at the #ArtFestbytheSea.
Step #1: Clay on the Wheel
First, David mixes some clay composite material, made from his own formula, into a lump of clay. From the mixer to the potter’s wheel, the lump is then shaped and hand turned to become the head of the putter.
