Downtown Dunedin Craft Festival

Where is Dunedin, you ask? It’s a lovely little city just west of Tampa Bay, in Florida. This weekend’s 12th Annual Downtown Dunedin Craft Festival is set in the lovely historic area of downtown Dunedin, known for Dunedin Brewery, Florida’s oldest microbrewery.

If you’re a history buff, you’ll want to make time on Saturday to squeeze in a visit to the Dunedin Museum, named Best Historical Museum in the Tampa Bay Area by Tampa Bay Magazine for both 2013 and 2014. The museum houses thousands of artifacts, photographs and an extensive library of printed local and Florida history. Currently, there is also an exhibit called Comics: The Superpowered History, displaying comics going back to the 15th century and exploring their influence on pop culture.

After discovering local American history, turn your attention to the modern day artists and craftsmen displaying their handmade goods along Main Street in Downtown Dunedin. Surely there will be plenty of red, white and blue options to consider for your holiday décor. Don’t forget that next week we’ll be celebrating the star-spangled banner, entertaining friends and family.

FlukePerhaps you need just the perfect thing to complete your holiday outfit. Consider this beautiful FLUKE, a hand-cut, kiln-fused dichroic glass pendant by Annette Kapfer, of Kapfer Glass Studio in nearby St. Pete Beach. She gets much of her inspiration from the sea, offering fish earrings and pendants of seahorses and dolphins.

Or, you really can’t get much more patriotic than this custom-painted bin by Bill and Sally Salada of SaladaDesigns, Tampa locals. Each piece is lovingly hand-painted and protected with a high gloss lacquer finish. They have some great hand-painted bar stools too! Bin

And, what 4th of July barbeque would be complete without some appropriate munchies, like Redneck Steak BEEF JERKY? Get your premium oak wood smoked beef jerky at the craft festival this weekend. It comes in Moonshine or Traditional!
