Happy New Year! Did you have a great holiday season? We did too! In fact, we spent the holidays gearing up for an exciting 2015, with great shows featuring the best artists in the nation. This Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 3-4, help us get the year started with a bang at the 27th Annual Las Olas Art Fair in Fort Lauderdale. We’ve planned a weekend filled with talented artists, contest winners, live entertainment and charitable causes, and it’s all free and open to the public!
This year, over 250 artists from all over the U.S. will join us in Las Olas, where you can purchase unique, original, eclectic art of all types and budgets. Whether you’re looking for collector’s items or one-of-a-kind gifts for yourself or loved ones, there is something for everyone this weekend at the Las Olas Art Fair. Get to know artists like:
Rasa Saldaiti, Lithuanian-born artist from St. Petersburg, Fl., whose collection of colorful acrylic pieces represent everything from landscapes to the abstract.
Leon Applebaum, a New York glass sculptor who incorporates vibrant color and detailed texture into each of his pieces.
Randy Pardue, hailing from Hawthorne, Fl., whose torch-cut, recycled copper art pieces play with the lines between decorative and functional.
Jon Smith, South Carolina native whose masterful techniques translate into gorgeous oil painting collections renowned all over the U.S.
Of course, we can’t forget our featured artist and winner of the Las Olas Art Fair poster art contest, Steven Penafiel. A longtime Howard Alan Events participating artist, Steven fuses contemporary and art deco styles to create beautiful pieces inspired by the joys of music and dance. His unique view of the world, brought alive by his incomparable aesthetic, brings a sophisticated flair that epitomizes the Las Olas Art Fair. That’s why Steven was chosen as this year’s Las Olas Art Fair poster contest winner and, this weekend, you’ll have a chance to be a winner too! Enter to win a signed Las Olas Art Fair poster on Saturday and Sunday. No purchase is required to enter, but you must attend to win.
Perhaps what we are most proud of this year is our collaboration with Animal Aid, a South Florida pet recovery and adoption center whose goal is to place unwanted, abandoned and stray dogs and cats in the community. With approximately 15 million animals put down at shelters all across the U.S. each year, the need is great for these little critters to find a forever home. This weekend, Animal Aid will be on hand at the 27th Annual Las Olas Art Fair to educate our community about the importance of pet adoption, as well as to showcase some of their precious rescues, offering patrons the chance to not only take beautiful artwork home, but also a new member to their family.
Needless to say, this year is off to a great start for Howard Alan Events, and we want to celebrate with you.
