We can hardly believe that 2015 is here — what a year it has been! So many shows started and continued in 2014, and we couldn’t have done it without the encouragement and support of our crafters, patrons and friends.
Of course, we all know this is a time for setting goals and making resolutions, and at American Craft Endeavors, we hope your resolutions involve supporting local crafters by attending our craft shows. To that end, this week we encourage you to make your first resolution of the year a simple one: Spend your weekend with us this Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 3-4 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Spanish Springs Town Center in The Villages for the 14th Annual The Villages Craft Festival.
We know The Villages very well — our festivals always take place in beautiful, charming and supportive locales throughout Florida — and we love Spanish Springs Town Square. We are stoked to be returning to this wonderful little corner of Central Florida, and we enjoy seeing the friendly faces that always welcome us there. One of the things that always excites us, however, is being a conduit for small business entrepreneurs to share their handcrafted, original creations with the world and gain exposure.
How can you support small businesses in your community? By attending free events like this weekend’s 14th Annual The Villages Craft Festival! At events like this, you have the chance to meet artisans in your area who enjoy creating beautiful and functional pieces of art that you can take home, gift to your loved ones or simply use in your own home. As you get to know these crafters and spread the word about their work, their fan base grows, and so does their business. Going into the new year, word of mouth and repeat business is one of the best gifts you can give to established and budding entrepreneurs at our ACE craft festivals.
You’ll find a huge variety of crafts when you attend this weekend’s festival. The best part? With such a wide array of talent to choose from, at different price points and budgets, there is no doubt something for everyone there. Here are some spotlight artists to get you started:
Kevin Dugan, metal art, boogsart.wix.com/boogs-art. Kevin’s brand of nostalgia is perfectly translated into cool, interesting pieces of metal art. Whether you’re into cars or movie icons, this is one stop you must make.
Lorna & Nelson Forest, PVC art, birdartforthegarden.com. Add whimsical touches to your home’s landscaping with realistic, beautiful birds created out of PVC pipes, then painted to achieve the perfect look.
Colleen & Ray Dossey, ceramic art, doorbelldesigns.com. For a unique conversation piece, look no further than Cicada Ceramics, where Colleen and Ray create beautiful doorbell designs that will surely add a touch of beauty to your home.
Deb & Joe Gilman, wood art, vermonttreebones.com. These intricate works of art utilize wood to create beautiful and functional pieces that can be used everywhere from the living room to the kitchen.
Curtis & Sandra Jenney, water fountains, leavesbyjenney.com. For a shot at tranquility and a touch of peace right in your home, check out Leaves by Jenney — delicately designed pieces that create waterfalls you can enjoy wherever you are.
Mary Jo Neidow, basket weaving, floridabasketlady.com. The art of basket weaving is alive and well, and you can find it this weekend at Mary Jo’s booth. Her gorgeous baskets are perfect for picnicking, gift giving, or home decor.
We hope you can join us this weekend to welcome 2015 in style at the 14th Annual The Villages Craft Festival at Spanish Springs Town Center.
